Specimens are packed by length, largest first, and never split between two pieces. The plan does not show the positions the standard prescribes for each specimen.

The cut allowance is added to each standard specimen width when the minimum lengths are worked out. Impact specimen width is the largest of 10, 7.5, 5 and 2.5 mm that fits in t minus the impact machining allowance. One retest per test adds two specimens for each tensile, bend, micro, corrosion and other test and one impact set, as EN ISO 15614-1 asks when a specimen fails; macro and hardness add none. Oversized means the piece gives much more weld than the specimens need.
